COURSE DESCRIPTION
Join us for a unique exploration of the relationship between tea, Chinese Medicine and spirituality with tea expert Lin Zhang and internationally acclaimed author Robert Coons.
In this class you will learn: - The early origin of tea as a medicinal herb. - How ancient Chinese physicians understood and used tea to treat illness. - How to blend your own herb/tea combinations to treat common ailments of winter and spring. - How tea is used by Buddhists and Daoists to assist in meditation.
Presentation and printouts will include the following Chinese Medicine and Ancient Texts: - The Pharmacopeia of the Divine Farmer. - The Divine Farmer's Nourishment Index. - The Classic of Tea. - The Collected works of Jiaoran - Li Shizhen's discussions on Tea. And more.
COURSE OUTLINE
The total time of the class will be 2.5 Hours split into the following units: - Introduction to Tea in Classical Chinese Medicine. - Tea Party and Sampling of Chinese Gongfu Tea Ceremony. - Herb and Tea Combinations for late winter and early spring health maintenance. - Tea and spirituality, including classical texts and Tea Meditation.
Along with the class you will receive copious amounts of tea to drink, free samples of two kinds of Chinese Medicine tea blends and a tea pot with 6 cups to take home with you.
There will also be signed copies of Robert's critically acclaimed book Internal Elixir Cultivation: The Nature of Daoist Meditation available for purchase at the event!
