PREREQUSITES: QIG-802 (Qigong Self Cultivation), TCM-102 & TCM-103 (TCM Foundation I & II), ACU-201-203 (Meridians and Acupoints I & II), BME-501-502 (Anatomy and Physiology I &II, TCM-100 Yangsheng/Chinese Health Cultivation

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In the first of a two-part course on qigong therapy, students learn the basics of qigong as an applied adjunctive therapy for TCM practitioners. Students learn to sense a patient’s qi for the purpose of diagnosis (for example, feeling the radiant temperature near his or her body) and learn the basic principles of qi emission for the purpose of healing energetic imbalances in a patient.







INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY:

Claire Turner Reid is a movement artist and educator who teaches Axis Syllabus, Internal Martial Arts, and Dance. She is a member of Spiritwind Internal Arts where she is a certified instructor in Qigong, Taijiquan, and Dao In Lung Shen and practices Baguazhang and Gongfu with Sifu Dylan Kirk and Sifu Chik Mason. Claire is a Level 2 Certified Radiant Lotus Women’s Qigong instructor under the guidance of Sifu Daisy Lee. Claire is faculty at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as a Qigong Instructor, and is an instructor at the Evergreen Seniors Centre where she shares Qigong, Taijiquan, and Falling Prevention & Negotiation. She has a Diploma of Acupuncture from OCTCM Toronto, is a Certified Teacher of the Axis Syllabus, and has a BFA in Acting from the University of Windsor. She teaches online, internationally, and locally in Guelph and the GTA. Claire uses movement and healing practices to deepen awareness, honour the integrity of the body, and enrich inter-relational possibilities. In movement research, she invites open-inquiry and curiosity and values lineage and creativity, rigour and play, somatic sovereignty and collective collaboration. Her teaching encourages exploration of the body in motion for more connected living.
